Welcoming Our New Vice-Chancellor: Professor Benedict Iserom Ita
This is a momentous transition in the leadership of our esteemed institution as we introduce our newly appointed Vice-Chancellor, the distinguished Professor Benedict Iserom Ita.
A Brief Introduction: Professor Benedict Iserom Ita is a renowned figure in the academic world, with a distinguished background in Physical and Theoretical Chemistry. Born on April 10, 1967, in Aningeje, Akamkpa LGA, Cross River State, Professor Ita's academic journey began at the Presbyterian Primary School, Akim Qua Town, Calabar. He received his First School Leaving Certificate in 1979 and went on to study at the Immaculate Conception Seminary, Mfamosing, Akamkpa, where he successfully obtained a General Certificate of Education (GCE) in 1984.
His thirst for knowledge and academic excellence led him to the University of Calabar (Unical), where he completed his higher education. He earned his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in 1989, followed by a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in 1994, and capped it off with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physical Chemistry in 2000.
A Stellar Academic Career: Professor Ita has made remarkable contributions to the academic world, particularly in the fields of Corrosion/Electrochemistry, Nanomaterials and Applications, Partial Differential Equations, Relativistic and Non-Relativistic Quantum Mechanical Equations. His expertise is underscored by the publication of three high-quality textbooks and over one hundred journal articles.
Throughout his career, Professor Ita has taken on various academic and administrative roles. Notably, he served the University of Calabar as the Head of the Department of Chemistry, Chairman of the Central Time Table Committee, President of the Senior Staff Club, and as the Pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Physical Sciences. These roles reflect his commitment to academia and administrative excellence.
A Vision for the Future: As Professor Benedict Iserom Ita assumes the role of the third Vice-Chancellor of Arthur Jarvis University, he brings with him an outstanding wealth of academic, social, and administrative experiences. With his impressive background and dedication to scholarship, we are confident that he will lead the way in fostering innovation and implementing transformative reforms that will further elevate our institution.
A Seamless Transition: In a recent turn of events, the outgone Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ani Nkang, and the incoming Vice-Chancellor, Professor Benedict Ita, held a productive meeting with the Registrar, Lady Mary Efion Dan-Abia, to discuss the vibrant future of the university and ensure a seamless transition of leadership. This collaborative effort is a testament to the unity and commitment of our academic community in steering our institution toward greater heights.
